ヒーローの作り方 To make a hero

普通の人々を描くのは、わりと簡単だと思います。
でも英雄を描くとなると、そうはいきません。
誰もが、かっこいい！ステキ！と感じるキャラクター。
絵を見ただけで、これぞヒーローだ、と受け入れられる僅かな要素を見つけること。

もっともっと、描き込まなければいけませんね・・・



I think it's easy to draw everyday people.
What is a lot harder is to make heroes.
The characters that people feel and look nice or cool.
To find those few elements that makes the person who watch the drawing accept that this is the hero.

絵を描き始める前、文章を書き始める前、ウォームアップとして、落書きのようなものを描くのが日課です。
何の意味もない場合もあれば、そのとき頭の中に描いていた絵やアイデアを、どんな感じになるか、紙の上で形にしてみる場合も。
普通は、そんなに時間をかけません。
でも、ときおり昔描いたものを見て、このとき自分は何を考えていたのかなぁなんて思い返してみると、おもしろいですよ。　
（全然忘れちゃってることもありますが・・・）



Every day before I start to do my drawing or writing I do some warm up sketches.
Sometimes it's nothing, other times I have pictures or ideas in my head that I just have to get out and see how they become on the paper.
Usually I don't give them that much time.
But now and then it's fun to look at them and remember what I was thinking at that moment.
(And sometimes I don't remember at all...)

ああ、今週は、あっという間に終わってしまった。

月曜に「ストーリーテリング」のクラスがあるのですが、この日の課題は、ショッピングセンター（たいして大きくもない）に２時間滞在し、とにかく観察する。　そこで見たこと感じたことを元に、短いコミックを描く、というものでした。　いろいろヘンなコミックが、出来上がりましたよ。

それから、来週のビックイベンント、スウェーデン最大規模のブックフェアに参加するための準備に、多くの時間は費やされました。　（この件については、来週ご報告します！）

バックグランドのスタイルを決めるためのスケッチを、ずっとしていました。

Wow! This week just went by in a blink!

On Monday we had a storytelling class and we had to stay in a shopping center (It's not very big) for two hours and just observe and from what we saw or felt make a short comic. Many strange comics came out of this.

Much time goes into preparing for next weeks big event, Sweden's biggest book fair. (More about that in next weeks report)

I'm doing some sketching on what style I'm going to do my backgrounds in.
