New Comic Project 新しい漫画制作

真夏の天気に、全てのエネルギーを吸い取られています。
夕方になると、グッタリ。
暑い気候には、慣れていないんです。
（ラッキーなことに、日本の夏を経験したことがありません。）
でもっ、制作活動はきちんとしてますよ。
新たな漫画制作の依頼がありました。
まだ詳しいことはお話しできませんが・・・
ここに、こっそり、ちょっとだけご紹介します。
なかなかイイじゃんと思ったら、教えてくださいね。
The summer weather is taking my energy away.
I'm tired every evening.
Guess I'm not used to the warmth.
(I think I’m lucky not to have tried the Japanese summer.)
But I'm drawing also, make no mistake.
A new project has come up.
I don't know how much I'm allowed to tell about it.
BUT!

バイキングとサーミ Vikings and Sami

今制作している、サーミを題材にしたコミックからの、１ページとタイトル部のイラストです。
物語の設定は、西暦６００年（ちょうどヴァイキングが歴史上に現れる頃）の北部スカンジナヴィア。 ここにはサーミ民族が住んでいました（今でもそこに住んでいます）。
サーミの人達は、トナカイと一緒に森や丘、山を放浪します。
サーミの人達には、Nåjd （ノイド サーミ語です）と呼ばれる、シャーマンや魔術師がいます。
私のコミックは、サーミとヴァイキングの出会いを描くものです。
そして多分、サーミとヴァイキングが共に行った冒険談なども・・・
Here is a page and a title illustration from the Sami comic I'm working on.
The story is set around AD 600 (about this time the Vikings make their debut in history) in the very north of Scandinavia. Here the Sami people lived (and still do).
They wander the forests, hills and mountains with their reindeers.
Among the Sami people there are some who are known as Nåjd, they are shamans and magicians.
My stories are about the meeting between the Sami and the Vikings.
Maybe also about their adventures together.....

２月というのに、スウェーデンは、とっても暖かです。
おかげで木々は、もう春だと思っている様子。
つまり、花粉の季節が始まってしまいました！
はい、私は花粉症です。
それにも関らず、絵も描き続けていますよ。
私とコミック学校の先生の一人は、今やっているプロジェクトの資金集めに奔走しております。
若い読者に、スウェーデンの古典ともいえる小説家たちを、コミックを通じて紹介しようというものです。
これは、Vollsjö という町の、給水塔脇で待っている汽車の図。
私たちが書こうとしている小説家、Fritiof "Piraten" Nilsson
フリーティオフ“ピラーテン（海賊）”ニルソン、の故郷です。.
Even thought its' just February it's very, very mild here in Sweden.
So, all the trees are having spring feelings.
That means the pollen season has started!
And yes, I'm allergic to pollen.
But beside that I've been drawing also.
Me and another teacher at the comic school has been out trying to raise money for our latest project.
It's about introducing young readers to the old classical Swedish writers, and doing this with the help of comics.
Here's a little study of a train waiting at the water tower in Vollsjö.

今現在、友人の Jimmy と一緒に、コミック制作に取り組んでいます。
Jimmy が原案とセリフ担当で、私が絵の担当。
（といっても、アイデアのいくつかは、二人で話したりジョークを言ったりしているときに、浮かんだものです。）
ことの始まりは、スウェーデンの無料新聞（フリーペーパー）が、新しいコミックを載せたいと催した、一般公募のコンテスト。
それで友人と一緒に、自分たちのコミックを送ったところ、最終選考まで残りました！
５週間以内に、どの作品が最終的に選ばれるか決まります。
今は祈るだけです。
この私たちのコミックのブログがありますので、良かったら見てください。
（全部スウェーデン語で書かれていますが。）

こちらは、コミックからのキャラクター達です。
Right now I'm working on a comic that I'm doing with a friend of mine (his name is Jimmy).
Jimmy is the writer and I do the drawing.
(Though some of the ideas we come up with together when we are just talking and joking.)
It started with a newspaper here in Sweden who wanted a new comic in there paper, so they announced a competition.
My friend and I send our comic in and just like that, we where in the first final!
In 5 weeks, we'll know if that was good enough.
I'll keep my fingers crossed!

自分がすべきコミック制作の過程は全て終わり、今セリフのレタリングを手書きでしてくれる友人 (Lotta Bruhn) の手に渡したところです。
その後、印刷にまわす前に、レイアウト上のちょっとした修正や付けたしがあるかと思います。
今回のイラストは、そのコミック本の裏表紙です。
これは、スウェーデンの民間伝説上の生き物で、"Mjölkhare" と呼ばれ、「乳うさぎ （ミルクうさぎ）」という意味です。
動物の死体に、皮や布を継ぎ合わせて作られています。
そして秘密の儀式において、命を吹き込まれるのです。
その後、この生き物はあちこち這いまわり、創り主の手助けをします。
通常、近隣の家畜小屋に忍び込んで牛の乳を飲み、戻ってくると創り主は、その牛乳を吐き出させるというもの。
１８００年代半ば頃まで、そのような生き物を創ることを法律において禁ずる、と書かれた紙が見つかっています。
（でも人々は、そんな生き物は存在しなかったと言っていますが。 だったら何故、わざわざ法律で禁じたのでしょうね？）
Now I have done everything that I should do on ｍy comic, it's now given over to a friend of mine (Lotta Bruhn), who will do the lettering by hand.
After that it might be some minor adjustments in layout before printing.
Today's picture is the back cover of the book.
It's a creature from the Swedish folklore called "Mjölkhare" witch means milk hare.
This creature was made out of dead animal bodies and other useful pieces of leather and fabric.
Then brought into life with a secret ritual.
After that the creature would sneak around and help its owner.
Usually they crept over to the neighbors’ barn and suck out the milk from the cows, then return back to the owner who could drain it from all the milk.
There are papers found that forbid these creatures by law as late as the mid 1800's.
(And people say that there were no such creatures. So why a law against them?)
